Jip: your new Korean home in the 11th arrondissement

It is in a small Voltaire district that chef Esu Leea native of South Korea with French training, has just opened Jip - which means 'house' in Korean.

There are no big rooms or fuss here, just a pocket-sized handkerchief, an open kitchen and a unique menu celebrating Franco-Korean flavours in a jazzy, intimate atmosphere.

A new spot where you can enjoy a dinner that combines tradition and creativity, like a date with a friend who loves cooking.

Korean cuisine that's all about creativity and lightness

At Jip, Esu Lee pays homage to his roots with a simple but devilishly well thought-out menu.

No endless choices, just tasting menu in three stages 35 €which evolves according to its inspirations.
We start with a fish sashimi wrapped in radicchio leaves, enhanced with a gochujang sauce fermented plum - subtle, fresh and very well balanced.

Next, a trio of ravioli stuffed with mushrooms and sweet potato, served on a warm béarnaise sauce, a real vegetarian favourite that crisps up and melts in your mouth. Finally, the main course, a bowl of tteokbokki noodles in a spicy broth, softened by a cloud of Parmesan cream, an unexpected but perfectly mastered combination.

For a sweet finish, try the tangerine sorbet in a tapioca bead bath, which calms the fire of the chilli.
All accompanied by a small selection of natural wines, carefully chosen to match Korean flavours, from €28 to €90 a bottle.

A cosy micro-restaurant that gives you the impression of being invited into Esu's home.

Jip is also a cocoon-like setting. The 27 m² Aus studio has succeeded in creating a warm and inviting space using mirrors to enlarge the room, a beautiful green granite counter set in stained oak veneer, and subdued lighting that invites you to relax. The kitchen is open, so you can see the chef at work just a few metres away, adding a touch of showmanship to this intimate dinner. With around twenty seats, we're almost neck and neck, but that's also what creates this friendly atmosphere where everyone feels at ease.

Why do we love Jip?

  • A unique menu that's clever, simple and ultra-creative
  • Korean dishes revisited with finesse and gourmandise
  • A very small but very friendly address
  • A selection of natural wines that hit the spot
