What if the best Japanese restaurant wasn't in Tokyo, but just a stone's throw from the Champs-Élysées? Head for the legendary Pavillon Ledoyen, home to L’Abysse, a two-Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant run by the virtuoso duo Yannick Alléno and sushi master Yasunari Okazaki. More than just a meal, this dream team invites you on a sensory journey, combining exceptional produce with meticulously crafted gastronomy.

Japanese gastronomy signed by Yannick Alléno

At L’Abysse, every dish is a work of art. Inspired by the most refined Japanese traditions, the cuisine unfolds like a multi-movement score, featuring seafood as fresh as if it had been enjoyed straight from the fishing port, subtle broths and a gallery of sushi of exceptional refinement.

Special mention for the iconic “Éloge de la neutralité”, a whole sole prepared to perfection and the opening zakouskis which awaken our palate to seafood delights: oyster with smoked tea jelly, sea urchin in yuzu jelly, or even scallop tartare and caviar.
Every bite delivers a perfect combo of iodine, sticky rice and umami.

In the evening, the experience becomes more upscale with the Omakase menu a dizzying succession of delicate dishes: dashi consommés, otoro temaki, homemade almond tofu, or even langoustine marinated in sake and ginger.
The desserts prolong the enchantment right to the end, with a choice of pineapple smoked over lychee wood, a wasabi granita, and to top it all off, an incredible iced mushroom with sobacha nougatine.

A menu as refined as it is clear

The deliberately short menu is a guarantee of quality. The lunch menu (between €115 and €260) offers excellent value for money. .

THE dinner, from €240, appeals to food lovers who want to fully immerse themselves in Japanese gastronomy, featuring in particular a uour Discovery menu, exclusively designed around the art of the nigiri sushi with 14 pieces.

A food and wine pairing (wines, sakes or teas) is also offered to customers to take the experience to its peak.

A suspended place that invites you to travel

Right from the entrance, one is struck by the monumental installation of 80,000 bamboo chopsticks floating in the air, work by the Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata. Then come the plush textures of the carpets, the white walls with coral reliefs, the red banquettes, the plays of subdued lighting… You really get the feeling of being in a jewel box, a somewhat timeless room in which to fully concentrate on the contents of your plate and its symphony of flavours. Seated at the counter or at one of the few tables, you savour the meal in a nearly liturgical silence before returning to the frenzy of the Champs-Élysées.

Why do we love it?

  • The absolute excellence of sushi in a refined French version that remains true to the original
  • The delicacy of the opening and transitional dishes, full of subtlety
  • An emotional gastronomic scenography
  • The front-of-house team's understated perfection, mirroring the chef
