Pho 14: one of the best pho in Paris

Accueil 9 Borough 9 Paris 13th 9 Pho 14: one of the best pho in Paris

Welcome to the heart of Paris's Chinatown, a stone's throw from the Place d'Italie, on Choisy Avenue.
This is where Pho 14 is located, an institution for all lovers of Vietnamese cuisine authentic and in particular pho, the famous noodle soup with fragrant broth.

Even before sitting down to eat, you will first have to face the queue that often stretches out in front of the entrance.
This is a good sign: here, we eat well, copiously, and a more than reasonable price.

Traditional Vietnamese cuisine, simmered with heart

We walk through the door of Pho 14 in the 13th arrondissement, and the wafting aromas of homemade broth already whet our appetite. Seated on stools, the regulars leaning over their steaming bowls set the tone: here, pho is clearly the star.

The map offers five variations of pho , from classic to the most daring: raw beef, cooked beef, special beef (with tripe and Vietnamese dumplings), or even the chicken version (phở gà), tender and comforting.

THE vegetarians will not be left out with a meat-free version, but full of flavors (especially when you add the proposed garnishes (bean sprouts, Thai basil).

We opted for the special beef version, large size and be careful, at Pho 14, even the “small” portion could feed an ogre.

The broth is clear, well flavored and perfectly balanced.
Every bite is a caress: the meat is tender, the noodles perfectly cooked, and the platter of fresh herbs allows us to adjust the flavors to our taste.

A real moment of pleasure.

A simple and effective menu, with low prices

Next to the famous pho (count between 8 and 10 € depending on the size and the filling), some starters will whet the appetite: crispy spring rolls, with meat or vegetarian or even complete bo bun for €9.50.

Everything is homemade, unpretentious, but with a precision that one can only appreciate.
As for sweets, desserts remain traditional, such as tapioca pearls with coconut cream, nougats and candied ginger.

A simple, lively, resolutely Vietnamese atmosphere

Here, no ostentatious decor: Pho 14 gets to the point.
We enter, we quickly settle down, we share a convivial meal in a room that is often packed.

The atmosphere is warm, lively, sometimes a little noisy, but that's what makes this authentically Vietnamese place so charming.

It feels like Hanoi, in a local canteen where you eat well and quickly, surrounded by families, students and a few tourists who have had the good fortune to land there.
