Bleu Bao: the ultra-stylish Chinese address that's bringing Saint-Lazare to life

When collecting Asian restaurant addresses in Paris, one of the first criteria on our list is their ability to take us on a journey.
Bleu Bao has succeeded in taking us to China as soon as we walk through the door. Without leaving the living 9ᵉ arrondissement of ParisThe décor (hanging lanterns and antique pieces), but above all the aromas coming from the kitchen, will transport you.
But don't expect to discover a postcard China. Here, the emphasis is on authenticity, large convivial tables and comforting dishes that keep the posers at bay. If you're already familiar with Bao Familywe invite you to discover their new chic and cosy addressbut always ultra accessible. And let's face it, it's a sell-out!

Plates that pop as much as the decor

Here, the menu is a declaration of love to Southern Chinese cuisine, with a few liberties taken to satisfy Parisian palates. The star of the show, of course, is the bao, the little stuffed bun, available in meat and veggie versions to suit everyone. Crunchy vegetables, roast duck and pulled pork.... It's up to you to choose the stuffing that will make you melt. They're all as spicy and juicy as they should be, and none of them will leave you indifferent.  But Bleu Bao isn't just about baos. Their map of dim sum is also well worth a visit, with its delicious ginger ravioli and steamed prawn bites. Don't forget the beef cheung funs We loved these melt-in-the-mouth rice rolls topped with sweet and sour soy sauce.  For the main courses, you can choose between crispy chicken with basilor lotus sticky rice.

A generous table to suit all appetites

The good news is that Bleu Bao manages to stay affordable, despite its chic setting and growing community on Instagram. Starters are around €6 to €8, main courses between €13 and €18.The restaurant also offers a wide choice of dishes, and the sharing menus (a must if there are two or more of you) mean you can try as many things as possible without blowing your budget. The drinks are just as good, especially the cocktails made with oolong tea, fresh ginger or exotic berries. As photogenic as they are delicious, they are the perfect finishing touch to a memorable aperitif-dinner.

A place to dream about without leaving Paris

Bleu Bao is also a place, an atmosphere: the walls are painted midnight blue, the crockery is vintage without being old-fashioned, the gilding is discreet and the lighting is subdued to protect your plate from prying eyes. All in all, it's as much a feast for the eyes as for the taste buds, which is always appreciated. It's the perfect Chinese restaurant in Paris for a first date, a birthday party with friends or a lunch with colleagues. Special mention for speed service, smiling and unpretentious. Even though you can order using a QR code, the plates always arrive with a short explanation and a "bon appétit", without any fuss.

Why do we love it?

  1. Authentic Chinese cuisine with a modern twist, but without the clichés.
  2. An ultra-worked decor, worthy of the most beautiful Instagram spots.
  3. Dishes to share that are a hit with everyone around the table.
  4. Balanced value for money, especially for such a trendy address in Paris.
